Who we are

Atelier Soil is a multi-disciplinary agency dedicated to the development of territories, towns and spaces open to the public.

Comprising architects, urban planners, landscape architects and programmers, the team specialises in the development of territorial strategies and the planning of urban and landscape spaces, from conception to completion.

Each of our projects is guided by a concern for flows, uses and the climate.

At the interface between public and private players, the studio is involved in all areas and at all scales of project, combining bioclimatic adaptation, heritage heritage and intensity of use.

We are involved at every stage of urban and regional planning: our work is not limited to the act of building or developing, but also serves to ‘prepare the ground’ by helping to change mindsets and imagine the future.

Our projects are thus the expression of our commitments and are rooted in a logic of feasibility, maximum impact and sustainability.

We are urban planners

Foresight, planning, research

If we are to truly adapt our regions, we need to bring planning back to the forefront. To do this, we support project owners through operational foresight missions.

By putting together a narrative of the region over a 10, 15 or 25-year timescale, we can develop a vision of desirable developments. We are then in a position to organise the action required to implement the phased project over time.

→ Territorial foresight for 2030-2050
→ Territorial strategy
→ Ecological planning
→ Corporate territorial responsibility (RTE)
→ Heritage strategy for sites
→ Applied research

We are architects

Client advisor

We intervene upstream of projects to help development players define their ambitions around a shared culture of the area and public space. As specialists in relations between public and private players, we lead the project, implement the dialogue and help with decision-making.

→ Steering and coordination
→ Running co-design workshops
→ Development plans and master plans
→ Urban and architectural programming

We are project managers

We design and carry out urban, architectural and landscape projects in line with our commitments to soil conservation, climate resilience and social impact.

Urban and landscape project management
→ Consultancy services for operators and architectural project management
→ Design and preparation of planning permission
→ Framework documents: specifications, lot sheets, etc.

Project management for public spaces
→ Feasibility studies
→ Full assignments (ESQ→AOR)

Locations :

The wide range of contexts in which we work reflects our desire to be involved throughout France, in major cities as well as medium-sized towns and rural areas. This approach reflects our positioning in favour of regional regeneration.

By applying the same care to a variety of urban situations, we are helping to strengthen social ties, adapt to the effects of climate crises by repairing them, and better integrate vital functions into the urban ecosystem (production, logistics, health, etc.).

Collective spaces

Interface and meeting spaces for all types of public:

→ Squares
→ Forecourts of public and private facilities (foundations, museums, etc.)
→ Urban grids: streets, avenues, etc.
→ Interchanges
→ Parks and gardens
→ Courtyards of buildings and condominiums
→ Head offices, office courtyards

Vulnerable areas

Areas ‘in need of repair’, impacted and weakened by environmental and social crises:

→ Urban wastelands and derelict areas
→ Ageing urban development: slabs, shopping areas, town entrances, etc.
→ Coastal areas
→ NPNRU neighbourhoods
→ Urban heat islands

Service infrastructures

Spaces fulfilling functions essential to urban metabolism that are poorly or not at all integrated into their environment:

→ Factories and production sites
→ Logistics zones
→ Storage centres, bus centres
→ Hospital centres
