The Portes Métropolitaines are located at the main road entrances to the Bordeaux metropolitan area. These areas, which are largely single-purpose and of poor quality, are undergoing major urban change. They are becoming strategic spaces to be redesigned as mixed-use neighbourhoods that are more sustainable, more vibrant and connected to existing transport networks. 

After a collective reflection phase at the metropolitan level involving the three teams selected by Bordeaux Métropole, our consortium, led by Studio Paola Viganò, will focus on the Portes d'Arcins Garonne (Bègles / Villenave d'Ornon) and Plaine Sud Garonne (Floirac / Bouliac) to thoroughly rethink these two large areas at the entrance to the metropolitan area.
